Mrs. Irwin's Students Nature book
Mrs. Irwin's kindergarten class at Eldridge Park School went on a nature walk this spring and decided to create a book from their observations. Some children drew pictures and some children helped to write the story. But all the children helped earn over $50 in the fundraising drive for the Lawrence Nature Center.
The kindergarten class took the walk through the Drexel Woods as part of the Science Unit to learn about living things. Creation of this book also helped demonstrate several elements of their Language Arts curriculum as well. The idea for the Nature Book came in part from a visit by author and illustrator Katethe Zemach who came to Eldridge Park School from funds received from the LT....grant? She talked about writing a book and collaborating with an illustrator. The Nature Book was the culmination of art, language and science working together.
